Press Release: Pennsylvania Federation of College Republicans endorses Corbett and Cawley

Under the leadership of Governor Tom Corbett and Lieutenant Governor Jim Cawley, a former PAFCR Chairman, Pennsylvania’s economy is recovering and we can truly call Pennsylvania a place we would like to work in, raise a family and even start a business. It is because of the business and family friendly economic environment as well as the restored fiscal health of the state that the Pennsylvania Federation of College Republicans is proud to endorse Tom Corbett for re-election in 2014.

Chairman Darin Bartholomew: “To college students it is vital that our law makers legislate with a focus on the long term. Governor Corbett is 1 of 4 Governors to receive an A rating from The CATO Institute. He also reduced state spending for the first time in 40 years while providing record basic public education funding. This has put Pennsylvania on a path that will benefit generations to come.”

Co-Chairman Christopher Wetherson: “I have seen first-hand the fiscal responsibility and leadership Governor Corbett has shown under a tough economic recovery. Governor Corbett is just what Pennsylvania needs.”

The focus on statewide fiscal health has seen positive reaction from business. After 4 years of not raising taxes, Corbett’s administration is responsible for private sector growth generating 141,000 new jobs. “Not only has the Corbett administration grown the private sector but Lt. Governor Cawley and the Marcellus Shale Advisory Commission have brought responsible national gas drilling to Pennsylvania which helps to support 200,000 jobs” said Bartholomew.
