Today, Tom Leighton confirmed what many suspected — he would not seek a fourth term as Mayor of the City of Wilkes-Barre. I truly believe this decision is in the best interests of the City.
The Wilkes-Barre City Taxpayers Association filed a court action on May 15 against the City of Wilkes-Barre in the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas, Luzerne County, seeking to overturn an Office of Open Records (OOR) final determination. The association is seeking via an open records request “any letters and/or invoices from the Pa Dept. of Revenue to the City of Wilkes Barre relating to a payment to the Pa. Department of Revenue on 8/6/2009 in the amount of $5,316.92 by the City of Wilkes-Barre.”
