The Main Street Farmers’ Market at The Cooperage
Local food also builds and supports our local community. Research indicates that 70% of money spent at local stores stays local, while less than 20% of money spent at large chain stores remains in the local community. By supporting your local farmers and artisans, you are helping to create an economically sustainable community right here in Honesdale.

In defense of individual liberty: Luzerne County councilman weighs in on county chicken ordinance matter
As an elected official sworn to uphold the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, I believe it would be a constitutional violation to infringe on a person’s inherent and indefeasible rights to not allow someone to acquire property, e.g., chickens, to pursue one’s own happiness. Who am I to tell our responsible neighbors and constituents what they can or can’t have on their lands, especially when it is not harming anyone else in their community? It reeks of our county becoming a “nanny state” and takes away their freedoms as taxpaying citizens of our county, Commonwealth and freedoms of living in the United States of America. By doing so we limit individuals’ happiness to love a pet or pets and/or limit their ability to pursue healthier and organic sources of food for their family.
What’s in your range bag?
Whatever shooting range I go to — and I do shoot at a few different ranges facilities — I have detailed written instructions of how to get there in my bag. Of course I know how to get there, but in an emergency will emergency responders know how to get there? In Dan’s case he had never been to my range. If something were to happen to me, heart attack, gunshot wound or whatever, how would he know how to tell them where we were? My directions are written out using landmarks and route numbers to describe exactly where we are. I also use GPS coordinates that can be given to a 911 operator if necessary.
Kids targeted via school free lunch program alleges Kids for Cash aunt
But as she performed her own research Fisher learned a tragic truth about how deep the rabbit hole of corruption really extended. “Over 3,000 kids were incarcerated during Kids for Cash, and I’m going to tell you how they did it: they picked all of the low-income students who were on the school’s free student lunch program. They knew they couldn’t afford attorneys before they ever even went into court.”
Women’s self-defense gets some style
There’s a growing trend in the firearms and self-defense industries of marketing exclusively to women. From the pink-colored Beretta Nano 9mm to surprisingly stylish conceal-carry purses, manufacturers are increasingly zeroing in on this once-overlooked demographic.
False advertising and the post-honeymoon truth, Part II
Unfortunately, most everything we learn about love teaches us that love requires nothing but our presence. True love lasts forever, love conquers all, and if you love me you should know how I feel. The misconceptions are countless, yet so is the number of Americans trying desperately to prove they’re true. So let’s instead channel all of that frantic energy into developing a curiosity about the lessons our partner’s qualities and quirks hold for us. Once we get over thinking, “Why won’t she/he . . . ?” we stop reacting — as if they were anomalies — to the repeated dysfunctional dramas we create and experience in every single relationship. It’s only then that Mother Nature’s brilliance catches fire and we realize our partners’ traits say as much about us as they do about them.
Contrary to what you might think, retail video rental is not dead. Family Video, based out of Glenview, a Chicago suburb, has been around since 1978, and currently operates more than 775 stores in 19 states and Canada. The closest one to us, however, is in Elmira, New York. But you don’t have to drive two hours to rent a movie, because we have the Reel Deal close to home, up on Route 6.
