Americans are Taking Their Eyes Off the Ball

Americans need to let their politicians know how much they hate the game. The people need to take note and remember how their representatives have voted as well as their behavior in and outside of office and then vote accordingly. People need to question the government at every level at every opportunity, including town hall meetings, municipal meetings, on the streets, at public events, etc. Keep the pressure on them and never let up.

Libertarian Gary Johnson Polling at 11% in Presidential Race ─ Pandemonium to Follow

Politics, as we’ve always known it, will be dead after this election cycle. It is not a question of whether the major parties break apart, but more a question of when. The margin of victory in 2016 will likely be less than the percentage of votes going to third parties, just as it has been in many state races around the country (like those in Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida).

The Agony of Reading Failure

If you do not learn to read and you live in America, you probably will not make it in life, or reach your full potential. Consider that reading serves as the major avenue to learning about people, about history, social studies, the language arts, science, mathematics, and the other content subjects that must be mastered in school. When children do not learn to read, their general knowledge, their spelling and writing abilities, and their vocabulary development suffer in kind. Said more bluntly, reading proficiency serves as the major foundational skill for all school based learning, and without it, the chances for academic and occupational success are limited indeed.

The Fourth Amendment Applies to Motorists, Too

I attended a hearing on August 24 before a Dauphin County district justice (magistrate) for a “driving with an expired license charge” against a member of the Independent Gazette team. John drives a car with a big “Ron Paul” sticker on the rear window, as seen in the picture below. One day back in July, as he drove up Interstate 283, he was pulled over by a Pennsylvania State Police trooper. The trooper pulled him over for driving with an expired license. How did he know that? He allegedly randomly ran John’s license plate and found that information in one of the databases to which he had access.

Constitutional Presidential Candidates are Needed

As we embark on this season of presidential campaigns, we would be well served to focus attention on the requirements for the office of the chief executive as given to us in our federal contract, the U.S. Constitution. Failing to do so would be pretty solid evidence that we’ve learned nothing from the installation of the current White House occupant as the president — wrongly, I might add. I maintain that we currently do not have a legitimate president, and I refuse to use the term as the title for the current occupant of the White House.

An Open Letter to Gay Americans

Congratulations on something that should have taken place a long time ago. Savor your victory, but let’s be honest here — you screwed up, also. You wasted over forty years supporting the Democratic Party which was, until recently, opposed to your ever attaining equality under the law. You opted for the lesser-of-two-evils position each election, and the result was that you were taken advantage of. I’m sorry you had to wait so long. It didn’t have to be this way.

No One Ever Goes to Jail in Corporate America

Large corporate “rules” allow for those responsible for life-and-death decisions to get away with inflicting damages beyond anything the corner hustler in Baltimore could ever muster. Steal a loaf of bread . . . go to jail. Steal from hundreds of millions through manipulation, and fraud . . . pay a fine. Seems fair and just, right?

All aid to Israel is illegal

Israel has over 100 nuclear weapons. No one in the US government will publicly admit to this truth because to do so would break the very laws we passed decades ago against proliferation, while simultaneously exposing the hypocrisy of the current US Israeli foreign policy.
