Local business celebrates 10 years

Opened in 2003, The Woodhouse Day Spa, located at 387 Wyoming Avenue, held its 10-year anniversary celebration on Saturday, November 23. Owners Maurita and Robert Elias, told the Independent Gazette that their goal was to create a welcoming and warm environment.

Prior to opening their spa, Maurita was the owner of two Party City franchise locations in the area, while her husband Elias ran his own law firm. After learning about The Woodhouse Day Spa—a high-end day spa franchise, founded in 2001 and based out of Victoria, Texas—at a franchise trade show, the couple liked the concept so much that they sold their previous businesses and went “all in” with Woodhouse. They became shareholders in the company, helping to grow the spa chain with its founder, Jeni Garrett, and were the chain’s very first franchisees.

“It was incredibly exciting to get in on the ground floor of the company and be able to watch how it has grown over the years,” said Maurita.

Ten years later, the Eliases have not only maintained success through a challenging economy, but have become a staple in the community. As Maurita states, “Our goal is to provide a very homey feeling to our guests.”

The Woodhouse Day Spa is an upscale chain of day spas offering more than 40 different treatments that encompass skin and body care, hand and foot care, massage therapy, specialty treatments, and more. Treatments use organic skin and body care products made from sustainable ingredients that are healthy for both guests and the planet.
