Coffee ice cubes? Please, take my money!

Yes, The Main Bean coffee house, located at 161 Main Street in Luzerne (Exit 6 off the Cross Valley Expressway), does indeed offer their signature coffee ice cubes, but also much more. In addition to various choices in 100 percent Arabica java, breakfast and deli sandwiches, desserts (including a wide selection of Hillside ice cream), soups, and salads are listed in colorful chalk on the blackboard that greets visitors to the shop. Holiday flavors like pumpkin, apple, cinnamon, caramel apple, gingerbread, and white chocolate have just arrived along with the cooler temperatures and colorful foliage.
Launched in June 2012, the Luzerne business aims to be a watering hole of sorts, offering a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy some good bean and friendly company. “The Lounge” may be reserved at no charge for study groups and the like, and even features a modest book collection for use in the in-house book exchange program—a book club/writers’ group meets on the second Tuesday of each month from 1 pm to 3 pm. Game Night is held Tuesday evenings from 5 pm to 8 pm, with Comedy Night trailing on Thursdays from 7 pm to 9 pm.
Intimate live music may be heard most Saturdays, with musicians, so far, ranging in age from 15 to 80. While there, be sure to check out the many framed art pieces hanging on the walls. The proprietors’ eagerness to promote the local art scene—both acoustic and visual—is evident. Interested in performing yourself? Just give Jim or Jessica a call at (570) 338–2759 to coordinate.
The Main Bean serves customers from 6 am to 8 pm Monday through Friday, from 6 am to 10 pm on Saturday, and from 8 am to 7 pm on Sunday. Their regularly-updated facebook page can be located at facebook/TheMainBean.
