Taxpayer Group Pressing for Gasgate Answers

One year into the Luzerne County District Attorney’s investigation of the theft of fuel from the Wilkes-Barre Department of Public Works, the Wilkes-Barre City Taxpayers Association has leased a billboard on Business Route 309, near Sheetz, to draw attention to the as-yet-unresolved matter.

According to Frank Sorick, association president, “In accordance with the mission statement of the Wilkes-Barre City Taxpayers Association, the board members of the association voted to lease the billboard in an effort to shed greater light on the misuse of taxpayers funds.”

Association board member Linda J Urban commented, “The act of  ‘taking’  of whatever is desired by any elected official, their associates or government  employees without the taxpayers’ knowledge or expressed/written permission has to stop. If such acts culminate via various forms of public display, so be it.”
